Meet the Staff

Dr. Sullivan began his undergraduate studies at the University of Oklahoma, graduating in 1988 with a degree in Graphic Design and Commercial Art. After several years in the creative field, he returned to the University of Oklahoma and entered the University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry in 1991.

During dental school, Dr. Sullivan distinguished himself academically and was the sole recipient of the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Award of Excellence, presented to an outstanding third-year dental student. He graduated in 1995 in the top 15% of his class.

​

Following dental school, Dr. Sullivan completed a one-year General Practice Residency at Saint Anthony Hospital, where he gained advanced experience across multiple areas of dentistry. It was during this residency that he developed a particular interest in endodontics and the challenges involved in diagnosing and treating dental pain and saving natural teeth.

After completing his residency in 1996, Dr. Sullivan acquired a solo general dental practice and spent the next two years practicing comprehensive general dentistry. His growing interest in endodontics ultimately led him to transition out of general practice and pursue specialty training. In 1998, he entered the Endodontic Residency Program at the University of Florida College of Dentistry—officially making him both a Sooner and a Gator. He completed his specialty training in 2000 to become an endodontist.

Dr. Sullivan has also successfully passed the written examination of the American Board of Endodontics (ABE) as part of the board-certification process, demonstrating his knowledge of the scientific and clinical principles of the specialty.

After completing his endodontic residency, Dr. Sullivan remained in Florida, practicing as an associate with one of his former residency instructors and treating patients in Lady Lake, Brooksville, and Leesburg Florida. After three years, he returned to Oklahoma and, in 2003, founded Edmond Endodontics in Edmond, Oklahoma.

Although his professional life had taken him back to Oklahoma, Florida was never far away. In 2005, Dr. Sullivan purchased a small cottage on the north end of Longboat Key. For the next sixteen years, he and his children returned regularly for long weekends, monthly visits, and holidays. Eventually, after transitioning Edmond Endodontics to another doctor, Dr. Sullivan made the move to Florida full-time in 2021.

Today, Dr. Sullivan has brought more than two and a half decades of experience dedicated to endodontics, along with the perspective gained from his earlier years in general dentistry, to Bradenton, Florida, where he founded Palm Endodontics in the Blake Dental Arts Complex.

Throughout his career, Dr. Sullivan has developed extensive experience in achieving successful endodontic outcomes, including the treatment of difficult and complex cases. He particularly enjoys cases that present a challenge and situations in which endodontic treatment may provide an opportunity to preserve a tooth that might otherwise be considered for extraction and an implant. His years of experience have reinforced a philosophy that remains central to his practice: when a natural tooth can be predictably saved, preserving it is worth pursuing.

At Palm Endodontics, that philosophy guides Dr. Sullivan’s approach to every patient. He combines over two and a half decades of clinical experience with modern endodontic techniques and technology such as CBCT 3D imaging and operating microscopes, careful diagnosis, and meticulous treatment. His goal is not simply to perform root canal treatment, but to provide the best opportunity for a successful long-term outcome while preserving the patient’s natural tooth whenever reasonably possible.
