Upon Arrival

Advanced Technology

Endodontic therapy has experienced major advancements throughout history.  Not only in understanding through research about pain mechanisms, but also in high tech equipment that makes imaging, diagnosis and root canal procedures less painful and much more comfortable and efficient.  At Palm Endodontics, Dr. Sullivan utilizes state-of-the-art equipment to give you the very best endodontic experience possible with minimal discomfort.

  • Dental radiography is an invaluable aid in diagnosing, treating, and maintaining dental health.  Palm Endodontics utilizes Digital Imaging in place of traditional film x-rays as radiographs,  With digital imaging, exposure time is about 90% less when compared to traditional x-rays.  Digital imaging pathology is much easier to visualize on a large computer screen vs. holding a small film up to the light to see!

  • Our practice utilizes state-of-the-art, small volume cone-beam CT (computed tomography or CBCT) technology that provides highly accurate, 3-D radiographic images for the diagnosis, planning and treatment of endodontic disease.  This allows three-dimensional visualization of teeth, bone, and surrounding structures with minimal radiation to the patient, enabling a level of anatomical accuracy and patient care not possible with 2-D technologies (regular dental x-rays or panoramic x-rays).  With the addition of cone-beam CT technology to our office, our practice is committed to providing innovative, high-quality, patient care.  We utilized a focused field of view so that the radiation exposure is the lowest possible.  We will also download the scan along with the software necessary to view the slices to a removable storage device to take with you and view or give to your dentist.

  • The introduction of the surgical microscope has revolutionized the field of Endodontics.  We use the very best quality surgical microscopes, optics by Carl Zeiss, that provide unparalleled magnification and illumination for our non-surgical as well as surgical treatments.  Our success depends on us being able to see the minutest of details--we cannot treat what we cannot see.  In addition, we have added a set of binoculars on the assistant side so she can visualize the treatment for even more precision.

  • Determining the length of the canals of the tooth is the primary concern during treatment as the complete length of these canals must be irrigated and cleaned to be bacteria free.  The traditional way to accomplish this was to place an instrument in the canal and taking and x-ray to verify the canal's length.  Dr. Sullivan uses and electronic Apex locator which allows him to get a length that is actually more accurate than an x-ray as well as saving the patient needless radiation exposure.
